Office romance in the Web 2.0 era

A recent survey by Vault.com found that office romances are in full bloom, with nearly 60 percent of workers having been involved in office dating, up from 46 percent three years ago. And 38 percent of those polled know of an ongoing office romance.

"Adding a new wrinkle to the workplace romance issue is the growing popularity of social and professional networking sites, such as LinkedIn, MySpace and Friendster, that make the time it takes for an office romance to bud about as fast as your Internet connection," said John A. Challenger, chief executive officer of global outplacement firm Challenger, Gray & Christmas, Inc.

in a web 2.0 era, the work hours are longer, there is less time to spend outside of work, make friend and therefore mate. romantic situations happen, and company have to deal with it, and not try to dismit it.
