Researchers: Glasses aren't geeky

Scientists train suicidal fish

Seeking to resolve the environmental impact of fish farms, scientists are working to train fish to return to a specific point from their home in the open sea in response to an audio signal. The fish would be fed after the noise was broadcast until they were conditioned to associate that sound with good times -- until they got fat enough, and then they'd be killed and eaten, obviously. ...read more

Japanese astronaut tests boomerang in zero-g

Takao Doi spent most of his 18 days in space helping attach a new Japanese laboratory to the International Space Station. But during his free time, he was able to engage in a little research of his own, throwing a boomerang inside the station and determining that it did in fact come back to him as it would have on earth. Lawsuit over stolen Second Life sex toys ends in settlement

Eros LLC, a company that manufactures virtual genitalia for Second Life players, settled its lawsuit against Second Life denizen "Volkov Catteneo," who was reproducing and reselling the virtual naughty bits. But the lawsuit ended in a settlement, frustrating both those who wanted to see some legal precedent set in regards to virtual property and fans of funny lawsuits involving virtual genitalia. ...read more
