Slashdot gets Digg-y

Slashdot.org released on Thursday a new feature designed to give more participation in the selection of articles to its users, who submit links to stories and comments about them to the site.

Called Firehose, the new interface lets readers see, for the first time, all the news articles that flow into Slashdot for evaluation by the site's editors. Additionally, readers will be able to vote on whether specific articles should or shouldn't be featured on the site.

Gadget confession: Sweet satisfaction

"I am giving up my body to little old ladies to get a couple bucks for my toys. It is amazing how many visits it takes to satisfy them. First it's the printer, then the monitor, and of course the cable modem always goes out with every storm. The cookies are ruining my body, but who can resist a sweet grandma."

THE GADGET CONFESSIONAL

"I always keep up with the latest gadgets that have or are coming out. I know which brands do what, the secrets that they have, etc., all very, very early on, as well as who has the best prices. Then I don't buy them. Well, sometimes I do, but usually its after almost everyone else has it. I act like an early adopter, but in practice I'm a late adopter. Even when I do buy, half the time whatever gadget it is ends up sitting around and collecting dust without use."
